About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team in Tampa, FL. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, unpacking and routing specimens, accurately identifying and labeling them, packing and shipping them to testing facilities, and meeting department activity and production goals. The position also requires proper preparation and storage of excess specimen samples, and data entry of patient information accurately and in a timely manner, as well as resolving and documenting any problem specimens.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Nice To Haves

• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities

• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
