About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join their team in Edison, NJ. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, unpacking and routing specimens, accurately identifying and labeling specimens, packing and shipping specimens to proper testing facilities, meeting department activity and production goals, properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples, data entry of patient information, and resolving and documenting problem specimens. The Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more experience (lab, accessioning, production, manufacturing or warehouse environment)
  • 1 year or more experience of medical or production experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities

  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
