About The Position

SNA International has an immediate opening for a Specimen Processor 3 - Quality Control Technician within the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL), DNA Operations, Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES) in Dover, DE. The Quality Control Technician will review DNA bloodstain card accession process, perform QC analysis of the boxes accessioned for accurate and complete information and ensure that all cards accessioned meet the Quality Control guidelines. This is a 100% onsite position located in Dover, DE.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma or equivalent with four years of work experience.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NAC-I).
  • Have the ability to work independently on multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Possess personality traits and professionalism necessary to maintain team cohesion and to set a good working example.
  • Candidates must be US citizens and able to obtain and complete a National Agency Check with Law and Credit Inquiries (NAC-I) background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform either primary or secondary quality control review of all completed boxes before specimens are sealed for storage. Take corrective action where necessary.
  • Preemptively review cards for issues that must be addressed prior to card being accessioned and communicate those issues to processing staff.
  • Assist in identifying deficiencies, problems, inefficiencies and proposed corrective action. Assist in the investigation, resolution, clarification, explanation and documentation of identified errors, deficiencies, discrepancies and problem areas.
  • Assist in documenting all aspects of quality assurance activities for the AFRSSIR and prepare summary reports of data and analysis of weekly and monthly trends.
  • Prepare summary reports of data and analysis of weekly and monthly trends.
  • Work with Administrative staff, maintain accurate and fluid QC guidelines for processors that reflect changes to collection procedures or specimens received.
  • If required, participate in Staff Assistant Visits to collection sites.
  • Duties may include conducting quality control inspections and collection of data on quality and efficiency to include specimen collections, receiving, data entry, packaging, archiving, and storage.
  • Self-direct workflow to ensure that all duties are being carried out weekly.
  • Generate documents and reports and assist other sections as deemed necessary by supervisor, to include sealing cards with vacuum sealer if necessary.
  • Maintain Privacy Act considerations at all times in the handling of specimens and the information contained within them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed for mission success.
