About The Position

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician to work in the Molecular Laboratory. The work hours are Day shift, Monday through Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm. This position requires 2-3 holiday. Weekends are not currently required but may change in the future. In this role you will perform pre and post analytical functions that support the testing of specimens received in the Molecular Laboratory. Your resume must be attached to your application, and you must have prior lab experience or equivalent science coursework to be considered.

Requirements

• Prior lab experience or equivalent science coursework required
• Associate degree or higher in biology, chemistry or health science required or a High School diploma with at least five years of experience working in specimen processing from similar hospital system.

Responsibilities

• Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
• Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
• Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times
• Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery
