Specimen Management Technician (Medical Lab), Core Lab
About The Position
Responsible for receiving and processing requests and specimens for Laboratory analysis, entering requests into the Laboratory computer system, transporting specimens, and using problem-solving skills. This role involves operating the Pneumatic Tube System (PTS), investigating, documenting, and resolving problems or complaints, and processing laboratory specimens. The technician will also serve as a trainer and role model for new employees and students, demonstrate knowledge of quality, safety, and compliance programs, and perform area-specific support activities. Additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent

Responsibilities
- Receiving and processing requests and specimens for Laboratory analysis
- Entering requests into Laboratory computer system
- Transporting of specimens
- Using problem solving skills
- Entering written and receiving electronic orders for Laboratory requests into Laboratory Computer System
- Ensuring all specimens received meet specimen acceptance criteria
- Operating Pneumatic Tube System (PTS)
- Investigating, documenting and resolving problems or complaints
- Processing Laboratory specimens
- Serving as trainer and role model for new Specimen Management Technicians and health care professional students
- Demonstrating knowledge of quality safety and compliance programs
- Performing area-specific support activities
