Specimen Management Specialist- Full Time- 1st Shift
About The Position
Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Problem Resolution Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX. This role acts as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients, resolving internal and external customer requests via calls, instant messenger, and email communications. The specialist will communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner, work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions, and provide customer education and information as needed. Additionally, the role involves reviewing test forms for accuracy, preparing and triaging specimens for analysis, accurately identifying and labeling specimens, packing and shipping specimens, and preparing and storing excess specimen samples.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
- Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Well-versed in applications like Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and willingness to learn new applications
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Nice To Haves
- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- Associates degree or higher
- 1 year or more of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic or hospital
- 1 year or more of experience in customer service
Responsibilities
