About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Management Specialist to join their team in Raritan, NJ. This role involves acting as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients, resolving customer requests, researching complex issues in multiple databases, and providing customer education. The specialist will also review test forms for accuracy, prepare and triage specimens for analysis, accurately identify and label specimens, pack and ship specimens, and prepare and store excess specimen samples. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
  • 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
  • Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications.
  • Communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
  • Provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
