The Specimen Collector Phlebotomist is responsible for accurately collecting, processing, and handling patient specimens while ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients and must demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience. Requirements
- Current national phlebotomy certificate (e.g., NHA, ASCP, NCPT, etc.)
- At least 6 months of professional experience performing venipuncture/blood draws in a healthcare setting
- Must have reliable vehicle, a valid drivers license, current auto insurance coverage, and successful completion of a motor vehicle record check
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance if operating a personal vehicle for work-related activities.
- Successful completion of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Follow client-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company protocols.
- Verify and document patient demographic, identification, and insurance information.
- Collect, process, label, package, and ship laboratory specimens in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure specimen integrity by maintaining proper handling, storage, and transportation requirements.
- Enter orders and maintain accurate specimen and patient documentation within applicable systems.
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate support to patients during specimen collection procedures.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Monitor supplies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, healthcare providers, and clients to support efficient operations and quality service.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support business and operational needs.
