About The Position

Talon Hiring has a client in the Hoover, AL are that is looking for a detailed Specification Writer to support the development and coordination of technical specifications and project manuals across a diverse portfolio of building types and project phases. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all project specifications are accurate, comprehensive, and fully aligned with architectural drawings, codes, and client requirements. Background in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management

Requirements

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
3–5 years of experience in specification writing or a technical architecture role
Strong knowledge of CSI MasterFormat, building materials, construction methods, and codes
Proficiency with specification software tools
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Prepare and coordinate architectural specifications in collaboration with project teams
Develop, maintain, and manage project manuals using specification software
Partner with architects, engineers, consultants, and project managers to ensure consistency between drawings and specifications
Research and evaluate products, materials, and building systems for appropriate inclusion
Monitor and incorporate updates to building codes, regulations, and industry standards
Maintain and improve specification templates and contribute to firm-wide standards
Review submittals and support construction administration related to technical compliance
Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and constructibility
