Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in customer service, direct sales, sales support, or another related field
  • Knowledge of commercial lighting or experience in the industry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be comfortable with in-person customer responsibilities and occasional travel (Note: Your driving record may be subject to review.)

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in Science, Arts and/or Business Administration
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, such as Oasis

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with the outside sales team to provide comprehensive support for client projects and regularly providing support and/or assistance to outside sales personnel to ensure client needs are met while outside salesperson is on the road, with other clients, or generally unavailable to assist
  • Proactively identify sales opportunities to achieve or exceed sales targets
  • Engaging with existing and potential clients to understand their lighting needs and recommending appropriate solutions, serving as the line card liaison
  • Developing a deep understanding of the agency’s lighting product offerings, staying updated on industry trends and new technologies
  • Providing expert guidance to clients regarding product features, benefits and technical specifications
  • Educating clients on the unique value propositions of our lighting solutions
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor for their lighting requirements
  • Responding promptly to internal and external customers inquiries, addressing concerns, and providing exceptional service
  • Creating detailed lighting layouts, pricing exercises, bills of material, energy savings estimations, sequences of operation, and more
  • Hosting in-person client gatherings or meetings, representing the company in a positive and professional manner
  • Helping with the set-up and break-down of such events
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and up-to-date sample room, placing sample orders as needed and retaining sample tracking data
  • Performing administrative duties, such as attending meetings, preparing notes, tracking job progress, maintaining orderly customer job files and customer database, etc.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Partner directly with Quotes and Project Management teams, acting as liaison between these departments and the specification sales department
  • Work directly with lighting designers on special pricing, coordinating custom lighting fixtures, and supporting their needs and providing “concierge service” to these clients
  • Funnel information and feedback to VP of Specification Sales
  • Monitoring workflows and clearing obstacles for greater efficiency
  • Monitoring progress, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Creating solutions to problems
  • Onboarding employees new to your department or function
  • Educating others for greater cross-functional understanding, participation, or adoption of specific methodologies, etc.
  • Acting as back-up to other team members
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities within the lighting calculations function.
  • Coordinating with internal and external (3rd party calc providers)
  • Ensure efficient turnaround of work product, while monitoring workloads of internal team members and external contractors
  • Partner directly with Controls teams, acting as liaison between these departments and the specification sales department
  • Provide oversight to sales intern (providing instruction/direction on tasks, mentoring, monitoring time & attendance, etc.)
