Inova Health Center - Oakville is looking for a dedicated Specialty Sonographer 3 to join the team. This role is a Varied Shift+Schedule: PRN (as needed). Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with at least two sonographer specialties (i.e., OB/GYN, Breast, AB) required upon start.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required upon start.
  • 5 years of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment performing Specialized Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a clinical expert who provides high-level specialty ultrasound services, leads quality and performance-improvement initiatives, and supports departmental operations.
  • Exercises independent judgment, mentors staff, and acts as a key resource for complex imaging and workflow needs.
  • Identifies and manages clinical or emergent problems that may impact exam outcomes, ensuring patient safety and optimal diagnostic quality.
  • Manages high-level disinfection processes, including maintaining glutaraldehyde or hydrogen peroxide systems and associated logs.
  • Ensures proper cleaning, maintenance, and safe operation of all ultrasound equipment; coordinates repairs, replacements, and inventory needs with Biomedical Engineering, IT, and vendors.
  • Leads performance-improvement initiatives, quality-assurance activities, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Participated in some healthcare related community engagement event.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
