About The Position
Amgen is hiring a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as the primary customer contact for its products in a territory covering Laredo, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Artesia Wells, Texas. The role provides medical professionals with clinical knowledge of Amgen products and helps them navigate the payer environment. The representative implements marketing strategy and promotes products as directed by the District Manager. Relocation is not offered. The role level and title will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.
Requirements
- Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
- Motivation and ability to serve patients through a sales role.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases and related treatments.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
- Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide current, comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate utilization.
- Achieve territory sales goals by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical education programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage account relationships, tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, resolving or triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze sales activity and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Partner with colleagues to share best practices and continue learning and developing in the role.
- Maintain passion for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the brand, and keep patient service in focus.
