Accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families according to the individualized needs of the patient. Procedure nurses must have ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic sterile technique by ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are available for in-office procedures. Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail to ensure physician preferences are met when scrubbed in or circulating in cases. Procedure nurses should be able to exhibit assessment and reassessment skills in order to maintain patient safety. This includes but is not limited to the patient's stability pre-procedure, the patient's tolerance of procedures, evaluation of pain both intra-operatively and post-operatively, provides support and relaxation intra-operatively, evaluation of patient's response to medications, and follow-up assessment of patient's pain and infection status. Must be able to communicate clearly with all members of the healthcare team. Must be willing to learn all principles of infection control to maintain care of equipment and supplies post procedure.
