Specialty Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
Provides pharmaceutical care according to professional and departmental standards and statutory requirements. Under moderate direction and supervision, works in designated areas or functions at the site and operates relatively independently, with some decision-making responsibility. The role may involve interaction with other departments or businesses outside the pharmacy department and requires enhanced knowledge or training in the assigned specialty area beyond that of a pharmacy technician. The technician takes ownership of assigned specialty responsibilities, ensures the quality and completeness of work, and is responsible for data collection and/or reporting related to an assigned area or project. The role also includes serving as a department role model and leader, training employees in the specialty area, and escalating identified concerns through the chain of command.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program.
- Michigan State Pharmacy Technician license required upon hire, or Michigan State Pharmacist Intern license required upon hire.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with sterile compounding, six months of technician experience, and/or graduation from an ASHP-accredited technician training program.
