About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our Specialty Pharmacy team in Albany, NY. Requirements

  • Candidates must be nationally certified (CPhT) and registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of employment.
  • Active Pharmacy Technician registration in the state of employment preferred
  • Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred
  • If additional state-specific certifications are required, candidates must obtain them within a mutually agreed timeframe as a condition of continued employment
  • 1+ year of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Strong phone and patient communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to quickly learn new pharmacy systems and database applications
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Solid computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for communication, documentation, and data management, as well as, navigating the internet and web-based platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and enter prescriptions accurately
  • Clarify prescription orders with pharmacists and/or clinicians
  • Label and fill prescriptions for pharmacist verification
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations
  • Identify medications requiring special handling, storage, refrigeration, or hazardous medication protocols
  • Assemble medication-related supplies, including sharps containers, syringes, needles, alcohol swabs, and bandages
  • Prepare medications for delivery to patients and departments
  • Answer, resolve, and triage inbound patient inquiries
  • Conduct outbound medication adherence and therapy check-in calls
  • Obtain refill prescriptions and coordinate renewals
  • Resolve insurance-related issues and assist patients with financial assistance resources
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory, including medication ordering and receiving
  • Provide patient education and medication support via phone
  • Enter and manage pharmacy data, including claim adjudication and follow-up activities
  • Utilize database applications to organize and maintain accurate records
  • Identify trends, resolve issues, and recommend operational improvements
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organization
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient information
  • Stay current with industry knowledge through continuing education and professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned
