About The Position

The primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a strong partnership with the health system client. This involves regular communication to understand their specific needs and requirements. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician Liaison also plays a crucial role in supporting the on-site Pharmacy Team. This includes and not limited to assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications, providing customer service, and ensuring accuracy and adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year experience working as a Pharmacy Technician; or in a Medical Office; or within the Healthcare industry.
  • Must be willing to obtain IL & MO State Pharmacy Technician license within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT): PTCB or ExCPT certifications accepted.
  • At least 3 years' experience working within a specialty pharmacy environment.
  • Experience submitting prior authorizations.
  • Experience interacting with patients recently prescribed specialty therapies.
  • Experience utilizing clinical patient management software (i.e., patient enrollment, scheduling, etc.)
  • Experience in a specialty pharmacy accredited environment (i.e. URAC/ACHC).
  • Experience interacting with provider groups, communicating status updates and ensuring patient experience.
  • Experience with the 340B program.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for healthcare providers and patients, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding medication orders, refills, and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care, including scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations, and arranging for medication delivery or pickup.
  • Verify insurance coverage, assist with prior authorization processes, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to specialty medications.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise during the course of treatment, such as medication side effects, insurance coverage disputes, or difficulties with medication access.
  • Keep detailed records of patient interactions, medication orders, and insurance communications to ensure accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care provided by the specialty pharmacy.
  • Responsible for functioning as a Pharmacy Technician during the absences of the Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required.
