The Specialty Pharmacy Liaison is a key member of the specialty pharmacy services team, working closely with patients, ECU Health specialty clinical pharmacists, and regional clinic teams to improve patient outcomes. This role assists with processing, filling, and delivery of medications. The Liaison is primarily responsible for receiving referrals, verifying patient demographics and medication coverage, initiating and obtaining prior authorization requests, and facilitating patient assistance programs, appeals, peer reviews, and co-pay assistance. They ensure communication with specialty patients and referral sources and act as a specialist for outpatient pharmacies regarding prescriptions that require prior authorization, patient assistance, appeals, and co-pay assistance. The Liaison also assists in developing content for provider offices about clinical services and shares pertinent metrics on prior authorization and patient funding success rates. This position is responsible for completing all daily, weekly, and monthly required documentation for data collection and analysis to support regulatory accreditation requirements. The role serves as the main point of contact to facilitate communication between the Pharmacy and specialty departments. Additionally, the Liaison performs other duties as necessary for effective daily pharmacy operations and assists in a range of supportive duties consistent with the goals, policies, and procedures of the pharmacy. They actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships with all individuals.
