About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the employee is technically competent, possesses the required education and experience, and demonstrates the necessary behavioral skills to perform their responsibilities. The position also involves ensuring appropriate training and in-service is provided, and that the employee is aware of the department's and hospital's philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies.

Requirements

NYS Licensed Medical Technologist and registration certificate required.
BS degree required in Science.
Proficient in manual differentials and body fluid cell count.
Computer literate.
Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

ASCP preferred.
Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and knowledge of Blood Bank Type and Screen, Crossmatching - Gel and tube technology.
Assist in procedures, quality control, enter results into LIS, follow Lab policy and procedures.
Read manual differentials, Knowledge of automated equipment.
Knowledge of chemistry and hematology and instrumentation.
Must perform maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as required.
Performs Quality control and maintenance procedures as required.
Must be proficient in manual differentials and body fluid cell counts, and urine microscopy.
Performs all lab tests and procedures as they pertain to the specific activities of the blood bank: ABO/Rh typing, Antibody screening, Cross matches, auto/directed units, DAT testing.
Performs Quality control and maintenance procedures as required by the department.
Performs manual differentials, normal and abnormal, cell counts, coagulation procedures, Urinalysis.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
