About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Houston, TX. This is a PRN As Needed position on the 3rd Shift. The role involves receiving and sorting clinical lab specimens, preparing them for testing and analysis, and performing data entry. You will also be responsible for ensuring lab equipment is functioning correctly, performing minor maintenance, and troubleshooting specimen-related issues. Additionally, you will replenish test bench supplies, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and complete administrative duties as requested, all while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures for safety and quality.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
2 year of experience in a lab or specimen processing
Comfortability with handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

Current or prior Labcorp experience
1 years or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience
1 year or more of experience in specimen acceptability
Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities

Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
