About The Position

To ensure that all products are cut and trimmed into specified weight and size according to product specification, in a manner which complies with company safety procedures, customer and USDA requirements. This role involves working on a moving conveyor belt using both hands to spread or style product. The position also includes performing multiple types of packing and weighing, pulling bones from product, and inspecting, grading, and removing product that does not meet standards. Employees are expected to participate as a member of the Team, contributing to the development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. This includes coordinating work to ensure best practices with all team members and attending team meetings. Fostering strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plan, budget, and policy changes is also a key aspect of the role. Employees are responsible for identifying areas lacking cohesiveness and working with the team leader and team to resolve issues and achieve synergy. Employees must be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand their responsibility to maintain this familiarity and their role in supporting these systems. This includes considering the impact of individual actions on the systems and communicating concerns and improvement ideas. Responsibilities

  • Uses knives to cut and trim chicken pieces to meet company standards.
  • Reads and uses scales for sizing products.
  • Cuts and trims product to specified pounds per hour.
  • Monitors product code, weight, and shape requirements.
  • Ensures table and scale is in proper working order.
  • Notifies management if equipment and table is not in working order.
  • Works on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
  • Spreads or styles product by hand on the belt.
  • Performs multiple types of packing and weighing.
  • Pulls bones from product.
  • Inspects, grades and removes product that does not meet standards.
  • Participates as a member of the Team, contributing to development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
