About The Position

Luther Park Community is seeking a customer-focused Specialty Cook with healthcare experience to work as our Snacks and Beverages Coordinator. This is a full-time position working every other weekend and some holidays. This position will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and serving daily fortified snacks and beverages in accordance with established menus, dietary guidelines, and resident needs. This role will ensure that all items are prepared to meet quality, safety, and nutritional standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area. This position also requires the flexibility to cover various cook and dietary aide duties as needed to support the overall kitchen operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or residential care setting
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition, food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines
  • Flexibility and capability to perform various kitchen roles including cook and dietary aide responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptability to shift between roles as needed
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time management and ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve daily fortified snacks and beverages as outlined in the dietary plan
  • Follow portion control, food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • Ensure fortified snacks meet nutritional requirements prescribed by the dietary team
  • Accurately prepare beverages including therapeutic or special diet drinks according to individual resident needs
  • Maintain proper storage of food, drinks and supplies ensuring compliance with FIFO (first in, first out) inventory rotation
  • Keep preparation and service areas clean, sanitized and well stocked
  • Assist in monitoring and recording food and beverage temperatures as required
  • Promptly communicate any supply shortages or equipment issues to the Dietary Director
  • Provide coverage for other cook and dietary aide duties when assigned
  • Work collaboratively with other dietary staff to ensure efficient meal and snack service
  • Follow all facility policies including infection control and resident rights procedures
