The Specialty Clinical Pharmacist is a key member of the care team, serving as the frontline provider of specialty pharmacy services within an integrated care model at St. Joseph's University Medical Center. This role is accountable for achieving optimal clinical outcomes for each patient. In addition to direct patient care, the pharmacist supports non-clinical tasks, including managing prior authorizations and dispensing activities, to ensure seamless therapy access and adherence. The position also leads the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical protocols and drives clinical quality improvement initiatives. St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures. The Medical Center offers a full complement of specialty and subspecialty services including ambulatory, behavioral health, cardiovascular, emergency/trauma, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic/spine, rehabilitation, surgical specialty, women’s health, imaging and pediatrics.
