About The Position

Specials Teacher - Gym & Curriculum Enhancement at Sacred Heart School. This role involves teaching Gym twice a week and one day of curriculum enhancement activities such as drama, cooking, life skills, recitation, experiments, and picture studies to enhance the learning experience for students in K-6th Grade. This is an excellent opportunity to teach with flexibility while really enjoying our students in a fun atmosphere! The position is 25 hours/week for 108 days next year, with teaching days on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Teaching at Sacred Heart School is unique because we believe that schools should echo the warm and intimate atmosphere of family life. Students need to feel guided by compassion during their years of growth and learning. A qualified candidate must be able to create a classroom culture with a deep foundation of trust, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our students will learn best when a teacher is organized, models virtue and awakens wonder in each student. The Catholic faith is steeped in every part of the curriculum. Sacred Heart School serves PK through 6th grade students.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education (or teaching experience)
• Able to constructively communicate with parents
• Must pass a criminal background check
• Complete Protecting God’s Children requirement
• Practicing Catholic

Responsibilities

• Teach Gym 2 times per week.
• Teach one day of curriculum enhancement activities including drama, cooking, life skills, recitation, experiments, and picture studies.
• Enhance the learning experience for students in K-6th Grade.
• Create a classroom culture with a deep foundation of trust, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
• Organize the classroom, model virtue, and awaken wonder in each student.
