About The Position

This position is for a Teacher Assistant in a Specialized Program, specifically supporting students in the Autism program for intermediate grades (3 through 5). The role involves assisting the teacher in providing educational support to students with autism. The program operates on a 9-month schedule with 6 hours per day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or special needs setting.
• Ability to assist with student learning and behavior management.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Must have attached required documents as listed in the job description.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with students with autism.
• Some college coursework in education or a related field.
• Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing educational programs for students with autism.
• Provide direct support to students in grades 3 through 5.
• Help manage classroom activities and student behavior.
• Support students' academic and social-emotional development.
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care as needed.
• Collaborate with the teacher and other staff to meet student needs.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times (e.g., recess, lunch).
