About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a certificated teacher, to assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction and care for students with disabilities in a specialized classroom setting; to perform a variety of instructional support tasks; and to do other related work as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Associate's degree, or 60 college credits, or passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment.
One year of experience working with students with disabilities.
Knowledge of basic child development and behavior.
Ability to assist with instructional activities.
Ability to maintain records and reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with students with autism.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction and care for students with disabilities in a specialized classroom setting.
Perform a variety of instructional support tasks.
Assist in the supervision of students.
Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment.
Assist in preparing instructional materials.
Assist in monitoring student progress and behavior.
Communicate with students, parents, and staff as directed by the teacher.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
