About The Position

The Specialized Programs Administrator provides strategic leadership, oversight, and support for all special services programming, including special education, gifted education, multilingual learner supports, intervention systems, and related student services. This position ensures equitable, high-quality programming and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while advancing student achievement and inclusive practices across the school. The Programs Administrator collaborates closely with school leadership, teachers, service providers, families, and community partners to develop, implement, and evaluate programs that support diverse learners. This role also leads professional learning initiatives, supervises specialized staff, manages budgets and resources, and promotes evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices aligned with the school's mission and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education or related field required.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Colorado Administrator License preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public education, including leadership or administrative experience in special education or student services preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff, managing programs, and leading professional development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to administrators, coordinators, specialists, and special service providers in delivering high-quality programming and services for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate special services programming to ensure alignment with school goals, student needs, and legal requirements.
  • Promote inclusive educational practices and least restrictive environment (LRE) opportunities for students with disabilities.
  • Lead strategic planning efforts related to special services, intervention systems, gifted programming, multilingual learner supports, and student achievement initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency and effectiveness of special education processes, including IEP implementation and service delivery practices across the school.
  • Serve as a resource and advisor to school leaders regarding instructional practices, compliance requirements, student support systems, and complex student needs.
  • Remain informed of current and emerging legislation, regulations, and best practices impacting special education and student services.
  • Supervise and support coordinators, specialists, itinerant staff, mental health providers, and office personnel within Student Support Services.
  • Establish accountability structures and performance expectations for special services staff.
  • Support principals in the evaluation and development of special education teachers and related service providers.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of specialized instructional and support staff based on program and staffing needs.
  • Facilitate collaboration among teachers, service providers, intervention teams, and administrators to improve student outcomes.
  • Coordinate and lead ongoing professional development aligned to evidence-based instructional, behavioral, and compliance practices.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and training sessions for special services staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 504, state regulations, and school policies.
  • Monitor implementation of special education procedures, documentation, timelines, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of required state and federal reports.
  • Partner with legal counsel and authorizers regarding mediations, due process hearings, state complaints, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain oversight of charter and private school special education support services, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with school leadership in developing and managing budgets related to special services and specialized programming.
  • Oversee allocation of staffing, paraeducator support, grants, and program resources to ensure equitable and compliant service delivery.
  • Monitor expenditures and funding sources to ensure alignment with school priorities and legal requirements.
  • Evaluate program, curriculum, equipment, technology, and training needs to support effective services for students.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, school staff, community agencies, and external organizations to support student success.
  • Collaborate with school administrators in regards to curriculum and instruction, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, families, and community stakeholders regarding special services programs and student support systems.
  • Support problem-solving and conflict resolution related to student programming, placement, services, and compliance matters.
  • Support teachers in implementing accommodations, modifications, interventions, and differentiated instructional practices.
  • Assist staff in analyzing assessment data and developing appropriate goals, supports, and instructional plans for students.
  • Promote the use of data-driven decision making to improve student achievement and program effectiveness.
  • Support the integration of social-emotional, behavioral, and academic supports within school-wide systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
