About The Position

Salem Clinic is seeking a full-time Specialized Imaging Scheduler to join their team. This role is primarily responsible for scheduling MRI, CT, US, Echo, and Mammography examinations, serving as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. The scheduler will answer phones, schedule appointments, take messages, and enter lab and radiology orders into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This position involves a variety of tasks associated with Radiology and requires a high degree of accuracy and independence while also being a team participant.

Requirements

  • Certified in CPR/AED
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Medical terminology
  • Detail oriented
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, providers and the public
  • Must be able to occasionally accommodate flexible hours and shifts pending department needs
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with close attention to accuracy with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently and as a team participant
  • Ability to perform data entry in Electronic Health Record (Epic), Patient Management System (Cadence/Radiant), Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Radiology PACS

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patients for all radiology examinations and add-ons, primarily MRI, CT, US, Echo, and Mammography.
  • Serves as a liaison between patient and medical support staff.
  • Answers phones, schedules appointments, and takes messages for patients.
  • Enters lab and radiology orders in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Performs a variety of tasks and duties associated with Radiology.
  • Prioritizes patient care and services.
  • Assists patients with transportation needs when necessary.
  • Supports safety in the work environment.
  • Practices Universal Precautions when appropriate.
  • Notifies department director/manager of any accident or incident.
  • Maintains work area in clean, organized and well-stocked condition.
  • Assists other areas outside the film library.
  • Obtains referrals if needed for coordination of insurance benefits.
  • Makes appointments for patients per protocol and explains procedure prep.
  • Tackles group tasks without being told to help.
  • Verifies and updates necessary information in medical records.
  • Inputs appointment data into automated appointment systems.
  • Navigates through the PACS and LIS when appropriate.
  • Refers patients to Credit or Business Office for insurance clarification.
  • Refers to Patient & Provider Relations for dispute resolution.
  • Schedules from all work lists.
  • Scans into EDMS.
  • Accepts delegated tasks from leadership.
  • Produces high quality scheduling.
  • Follows established imaging protocols.
  • Performs all MQSA and FDA required tracking.
  • Mammography Film Hanging.
  • Epic EDMS scanning.
  • Handles outside film requests and PACS related workflow.
