About The Position

The Workforce Development Specialist I is an entry-level position. This is an individual contributor role on a team responsible for implementing project tasks and activities required for the workforce recruitment, training, and development of production operations and maintenance associates. The associate is expected to be passionate about education and development of people and committed to the continued development of the First Solar training program. The associate is expected to continue their own development on training solutions along with improving on problem-solving and analytical skills. The position will have responsibility as a Team Member in the creation of high-quality training content, onboarding new associates, and working with production leadership on the delivery and validation of training (a majority of which is on-the-job or classroom-based). The Specialist I is to have good interpersonal skills in collaborating cross-functionally to deliver training programs in all aspects of work (safety, quality, technical, problem-solving, and leadership). This is an on-site (not remote) position.

• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
• All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.

Nice To Haves

• Actively working toward a college Degree in a Technical Discipline, HR organizational development, or educational degree in a STEM field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate new hire onboarding along with data gathering and reporting
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary teams in determining training needs and improvements in all aspects of work (safety, quality, technical, problem-solving, and leadership).
• Develop, deliver, and maintain training solutions that follow a consistent format, are of a high-quality professional form, and accompanied with the appropriate supplements (e.g. reference guides, video, verification tools).
• Print training materials and ensure all training documentation on the production floor is up-to-date and in the proper location.
• Develop own skills on training tools and methods (e.g. instructional design, OJT methods, video production, MS forms, on-line or virtual forms, SCORM, and validation methods)
• Assist trainers, crew training advocates, and supervisors to ensure they have the training material needed.
• Assist with training status reporting and with subject matter experts on verification of training completeness and effectiveness.
