The Transportation Services department is responsible for providing a holistic transportation hub focused on addressing the planning, implementation, operations and delivery of all modes of transportation in the City of Ottawa. You are responsible for: coordinating and providing project management support for assigned department and/or corporate-wide projects; development, research and evaluation services concerning branch and/or department policies, programs and procedures; issues and inquiry management services; process and performance improvement services; and supervision of the work of staff assigned to these projects. The Specialist, Transit Services supports the Rail Construction Program’s financial processes and procedures. Working with and reporting to the Manager, Program Management & Technical Services, the Specialist, Transit Services primarily focuses on supporting the budget support scope (and associated processes and procedures) which are critical to the management of the Program’s budget. This includes, but is not limited to leading the budget planning exercise ((annual/report-based budget asks) including working with subject matter experts to identify budget needs and pressures and drafting content/narrative for budget asks), performing financial/budget reviews (participating in monthly and quarterly reviews, identifying trends and gaps, addressing questions, monitoring contingency spends, developing branch spend and pressure reports), support the collection and development of Contingency Management Committee content, processing payments of various types from various vendors (Construction Period Payments, Cash Allowance, Minor Deficiencies, etc.), monitors and executes upon other crucial elements of the RCPs financial requirements.
