About The Position

Aerojet Rocketdyne a L3Harris segment is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, and strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion. At this location produce and develop a variety of energetic assemblies for rocket propulsion. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Technical Writer to join our Manufacturing Strategy and Growth team located in Huntsville Alabama. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a green field environment. The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for developing innovative solutions. We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer with a focus on manufacturing processes that can take paper onboarding work instructions and transform into digital format using graphic design and HTML design.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Technical Writing experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Technical Writing experience.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Technical Writing experience.
2 years’ experience manufacturing processes technical writing.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience in technical writing with a focus on manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in HTML design and content management is strongly desired.
Experience with HTML based Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is strongly desired.
Strong graphic design skills with experience using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and specialized illustration tools is strongly desired.
Experience with CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks, for creating and interpreting technical drawings.
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and standards.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex technical information.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in the aerospace industry.
Familiarity with regulatory documentation requirements for aerospace manufacturing.
Certification in Technical Writing or a related field.

Responsibilities

Develop, write, and edit high-quality documentation for manufacturing processes, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and technical manuals.
Design and apply HTML for online documentation layout and content management.
Utilize graphic design skills to create visually appealing and informative illustrations, diagrams, and infographics.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand complex technical information and translate it into user-friendly documentation.
Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gather detailed information and incorporate it into documentation.
Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Use CAD software to create and modify technical drawings and schematics as needed.
Review and revise documentation regularly to ensure it remains accurate and up to date with process changes.
Provide support in the creation of training materials and guides for new manufacturing processes.
Compile information for, assemble, submit, and monitor status of manufacturing change request packages.
Champion the development of standardized manufacturing work instructions.
