About The Position

L3Harris, Force Protection Solutions, is seeking a Specialist Systems Engineer to join our team in State College, PA. This individual will play a vital role in the design, build, test, installation, and sustainment of complex electro-mechanical systems supporting US Navy fleet assets. In this role, the Specialist Systems Engineer will collaborate with the customer and Electrical, Mechanical, RF, and Software Engineers to deliver capabilities that protect and support fleet assets from threats in the electronic warfare domain/radio-frequency spectrum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of threat modeling, signal characterization, and system response behaviors
  • Knowledge of techniques generation, validation, and operational relevance
  • Data analysis and interpretation from lab, simulation, or flight/test events
  • Experience with algorithm behavior evaluation and system performance characterization
  • Modeling and simulation experience for EW performance analysis
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or similar analysis tools

Responsibilities

  • Foundational understanding of and experience with design and test of Electronic Warfare systems and associated modes of operation, including electronic attack, electronic support, and electronic protection
  • Knowledge of radar, RF systems, signals, emitters, and threat environments
  • Familiarity with EW mission planning, operational concepts, and platform integration
  • Experience conducting technical planning and analysis activities throughout all phases of the system development lifecycle, from concept through to delivery
  • Experience developing, decomposing, and tracing technical requirements
  • Experience writing test plans and test procedures for verification and validation of component/assembly/system functions
  • Knowledge/experience with hardware/software integration on complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently on moderately complex assignments
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks with limited oversight
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET level security clearance
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%
