About The Position

The Specialist Systems Engineer will join the systems team on the Relay Next program, focusing on test and system integration with an electrical emphasis. The role supports system integration and testing, including power systems, interconnect cabling, networking, and mechanical integration. Highly desired experience includes testing military networking and communication systems. The position is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and follows a 9/80 schedule: employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off. Travel of up to 10% may be required for project needs. The employee must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for project needs.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with multiple aspects of networking, including IP formats, addressing, fiber optics, and copper networks.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and optimizing complex communications systems, such as SATCOM and line-of-sight systems for military applications.
• Experience working with lab test equipment, such as power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
• Experience supporting customer engagements, technical reviews, and program milestone events.
• Experience with Type 1 encryption products and cybersecurity.
• Extensive experience in system integration and testing, writing test procedures, networking, interconnect cabling, and mechanical integration.
• Experience testing military networking and communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Support testing and integration efforts for the Relay Next program.
• Design and integrate power systems, interconnect cabling, and mechanical systems within the Relay Next system.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure proper implementation and compliance with engineering processes.
• Conduct and support system integration and testing activities.
• Communicate and present project updates to team members and stakeholders.
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve program objectives.
• Travel up to 10% of the time for project needs.
