About The Position

The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and/or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.

Requirements

  • Active US Secret security clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne data link, video, and voice systems environment.
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience with Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience with configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing.
  • Knowledge of mission systems: EO/IR, Video, Networks, SI/EW, etc.
  • Model-based Systems Engineering and Simulation experience.
  • Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
  • Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process.
  • Experience conducting verification testing.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
  • Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and/or subsystems.
  • Support the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
  • Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
  • Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
  • Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
  • Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
  • Perform requirement traceability.
  • Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
