About The Position

We are seeking a Specialist, Supplier Quality Engineer to join and support our Supplier Quality team in the Los Angeles County area. This role is responsible for ensuring supplier quality performance, driving process improvements, and partnering closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering, manufacturing, and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with machining suppliers and possess knowledge of machining processes, inspection methods, and supplier quality systems within an aerospace or high‑reliability manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant quality experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of related quality experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of related quality experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must meet Company automobile insurability requirements when driving on company business
  • Ability to travel onsite to regional suppliers up to 80% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System Standard
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or inspection environments
  • Strong problem‑solving, investigation, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) experience
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience with supplier surveillance, supplier development, and source inspection

Responsibilities

  • Visit suppliers to review product and process issues.
  • Interface with internal and external customers (engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, procurement) to ensure requirements are met.
  • Analyze supplier processes and planning to verify compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and related requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier FAIs in accordance with AS9102.
  • Visit suppliers to perform investigations and root cause analyses to drive process improvements.
  • Be accountable for assigned suppliers’ performance and ensure suppliers maintain a 100% quality rating.
  • Actively contribute to Early Supplier Engagement activities such as Post Award Reviews (PAR), Supplier Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, and Control Plan activities.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages.
  • Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested by Quality Engineering or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management.
  • Create reporting documents to summarize supplier performance, nonconformance history, impact to the Company’s Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), and other assigned metrics.
  • Participate in managing the supplier rating/scorecard system and support periodic meetings.
  • Perform periodic source inspections at assigned suppliers.
