About The Position

This position provides co-curricular advisement in support of the mission of Student Life to all students at Fox Valley Technical College in the context of student leadership development and engagement. This is accomplished through advising the Student Government Association, coordinating student leadership development and recognition programs for the college, as well as supervising and mentoring the framework of student organizations. A varied work schedule is required to include evening and weekend functions, events, and training.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of recent, post-secondary experience in student organizations, administrative advisement, and collaborative event planning required.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record check (if travel to different locations is required).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with student/volunteer organizations.
  • Commitment to student development issues and the ability to assess student needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with student organizations in a higher education setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative advising for the Student Government Association members and officers, including accessing student records, enrollment, and financial standing.
  • Advise the FVTC delegation for the Wisconsin Student Government Association.
  • Coordinate state legislature visits and mentor students on proper advocacy techniques and appropriate outcomes.
  • Develop, administer, and assess the Foxes Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) program.
  • Work with internal staff and outside agencies to plan, develop and recruit for the annual Fall Leadership Camp retreat.
  • Assist SGA in understanding the student activity fee budgeting process and ensure college-wide student engagement in the process.
  • Assess leadership development initiatives and coordinate with other college staff to address the needs of current students, including the development and delivery of leadership-focused programming with a focus on student actualization and retention.
  • Based on student need, serve as a representative and aid in the development, assessment, and promotion of co-curricular opportunities as an integral part of the education and development of FVTC students.
  • Collaborate with instruction in the development of co-curricular activities that support program curriculum.
  • Plan, promote and serve as the coordinator for the Wisconsin Technical College System Ambassador Award Program, including training and promotion of the Ambassador’s talents and services.
  • Assist with budget lines related to Student Government, Student Organizations, and Leadership Development Programming.
  • Provide leadership on college sponsored trips and conferences for FVTC students.
  • Coordinate all Student Government Association and Wisconsin Student Government sponsored trips including scheduling, contracting, rate negotiation, and promotion.
  • Foster and develop student growth through engagement with co-curricular and extra-curricular student organizations, including the organization of interest fairs each semester and an annual awards recognition event.
  • Assist and mentor student organization officers in their leadership positions.
  • Develop and implement student organizations framework including a registration/renewal process, handbooks, and SOOT (student organization officer training.)
  • Conduct regular outreach to student clubs through newsletters, broadcast messages, club meetings and advisor meetings.
  • Work with internal and external partners to meet programming and compliance requirements for Constitution Day.
  • Explain policies/procedures and monitor staff and student compliance with college policies and procedures related to student organizations.
  • Assist in monitoring student organization's budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with departmental and College policies and procedures.
  • Support the recruitment and growth of new student organizations.
  • Manage relevant areas of the departmental software including accurate record keeping, creation of content, and approval of workflows.
