About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Staff Safety, the Staff Safety Specialist provides consultation, development & implementation of a variety of resource options for safety and injury prevention which are in alignment with the organization strategic plan, goals & values. This position ensures workplace incidents are fully investigated, that the data is analyzed, trends identified and corrective actions are appropriate and completed by managers and supervisors. In addition, this position provides ongoing consultation with SHA departments utilizing department safety plan frameworks guided by the SHA Management System in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (SASWH) Safety Management System.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading teams and project management
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Exemplifies ethical practices, professionalism and personal integrity
  • Knowledge in applicable legislation and standards
  • Knowledge in applicable human resource functions and disciplines
  • Ability to adapt to and implement change

  • Knowledge in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action
  • Knowledge in the Saskatchewan health care system

  • Knowledge in First Nation and Metis history in Saskatchewan
