About The Position

Nationwide's Technology team is seeking a passionate Software Engineer to join their dynamic organization. This role focuses on enabling a Fortune 100 company to drive innovation and adopt new technologies. The specific team works with ACE (AppConnect Enterprise), formerly known as IBM Integration Bus (IIB), which is an integration/middleware platform. This platform connects systems and services, transforms data between applications, orchestrates API calls, and applies validation logic. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ACE/IIB integration, familiarity with PolicyCenter, experience with field mappings, APIs, and downstream orchestration, the ability to troubleshoot production issues, and an understanding of CLS business processes. This role involves working a hybrid schedule in Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, Iowa, or Scottsdale, Arizona, coming into the office two days per week (Monday & Tuesday). Remote internal associates may also be considered. This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization, and Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Requirements

  • Strong ACE/IIB Integration background
  • PolicyCenter familiarity
  • Experience w/field mappings, APIs, and dostream irchestration
  • Ability to troubleshoot production/support issues across connected systems
  • Understanding of CLS business processes and line impacts
  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
