About The Position

Responsible for performing transactional processes and transactions of basic complexity. The role processes billing transactions and enters them into a computerized system, follows established processes with a high degree of accuracy, handles a larger volume of basic transactions, and helps run basic reports. The specialist may assist more senior specialists with complex transactions and other work, and may take on other responsibilities as judgment or necessity dictates.

Requirements

• High school diploma from an accredited school or equivalent GED, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience.

• Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Knowledge of medical benefit versus pharmacy benefit billing.
• Knowledge of specialty drug reimbursement and HCPCS/J-code billing.
• Knowledge of NDC billing, units of service, modifiers, and drug-specific reimbursement guidelines.
• Knowledge of prior authorization and medical necessity requirements.
• Knowledge of commercial payer plans, BlueCard, Medicare, and other medical insurance programs.
• Experience resolving high-dollar claims, underpayments, recoupments, and complex denials.
