About The Position

This role facilitates patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. The Specialist obtains required demographic and financial information to ensure accurate records, optimal reimbursement, and quality clinical outcomes. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, interviewing patients for appropriate medical information, explaining departmental and hospital policies, validating and entering charges into appropriate systems, collecting payments, and answering incoming calls while directing patients and visitors appropriately. Within 3-6 months, success looks like proficiency in Cerner, effective patient communication, demonstrating initiative, and adhering to policies and procedures. By 12 months, the individual should be fully independent in all role responsibilities. The work environment is described as a close-knit, positive, and upbeat culture that is team-oriented with strong communication, organized, professional, and enjoys having fun while maintaining high standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Maintains eye contact and a pleasant, professional tone
  • Comfortable interacting with challenging patients
  • Adaptable and flexible in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to interpret insurance information
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Ability to learn and retain medical coding (ICD‑10, CPT preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical practices preferred
