About The Position

Scout Motors is reviving an iconic American vehicle brand, electrifying and digitizing it with American innovation. The company aims to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck and rugged SUV market. This role is instrumental in shaping the perception of the Scout brand through engineering ingenuity and a focus on powertrain calibration. The Specialist, Project Calibration Engineer will own assigned powertrain and drive system calibration activities from prototype through production release, contributing to an iconic brand's resurgence. The role involves creating a unique Scout driving experience, modifying vehicle and powertrain calibration for BEV/EREV systems, and supporting calibration engineers with necessary resources. Collaboration with powertrain hardware, chassis tuning, whole vehicle, production, and quality teams is essential for problem-solving and ensuring release readiness. Hands-on prototyping and software implementation are also key aspects of this position. The role is based in Charlotte, NC or Novi, MI, requiring 4-5 days per week in the office, with potential for travel.

Requirements

• Relevant degree such as bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, IT systems, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university, preferably in electrical engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in concept engineering or serial development, in the work scope of calibration and validation of software functions and the needed calibration tools including CRETA and ETAS.
• Experience in calibration process, calibration on testbenches and cars to integrate data in a manner that reflects system engineering, integration and release processes.
• Ability to read and understand Simulink flow diagrams and C-programming source code.
• Motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, create new ideas and solutions, enjoy hands-on testing.
• Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, innovative, creative, communication skills and ability to develop & mutually thrive in working relationships.
• Proven ability to work in a truly cross-functional and global environment.

Nice To Haves

• Preferability experience with coordination of calibration datasets, and coordination of test trips and testing of drive system functionalities.
• Experience in the evaluation and the assessment of vehicle attributes for electric/range extender SUVs.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned powertrain and drive system calibration activities from prototype through production release.
• Be a part of the vision of engineering excellence & source of knowledge.
• Take over responsibility for the calibration milestones, tracking and calibration test trips.
• Calibrate & create with collaboration, a Scout specific driving experience that allows other teams to contribute and implement their necessities.
• Modify vehicle and powertrain calibration of monitoring, diagnostic and vehicle control functions for BEV/ EREV.
• Support the function calibration engineers with the needed measurement equipment, cars and creating calibration dataset.
• Liaise with the powertrain hardware and chassis tuning team to propose technical input.
• Lead calibration execution, validation, and release readiness activities across prototype and serial development phases.
• Partner with the whole vehicle, production and quality teams to come up with solution to engineering & functional challenges.
• Hands-on prototyping and building capability, from initial operation to coordinating and implementing software.
• Be involved other related tasks / activities as required.
• Serve as a technical specialist for calibration processes, datasets, and validation activities within assigned systems.
• Serve as the primary calibration owner for assigned vehicle functions, milestones, and calibration datasets.
• Independently manage calibration activities, issue resolution, data analysis, and release readiness within assigned scope.
