About The Position

The Network & Event Infrastructure Lead reports to the Manager, Information Technology Operations and is responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of the organization’s network, wireless, and VoIP system infrastructure across all office locations and major event environments. This role oversees the full lifecycle of network implementation and support, serves as the primary Level 2 and Level 3 escalation point for network-related issues, and provides on‑site technical support for Montreal-based server infrastructure in collaboration with the Senior System Administrator. In addition, the Network & Event Infrastructure Lead serves as the technical lead for the annual Montreal event, overseeing IT requirements gathering, end-to-end infrastructure design, and onsite coordination of vendors and partners. This role ensures all technology components are properly architected, tested, and fully operational, delivering a seamless and secure event technology experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in network administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong expertise in Layer 2/3 networking (VLANs, OSPF, STP, trunking), switching, routing, and wireless design.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco firewalls, VPNs, voice systems, and WAN technologies.
  • Experience in supporting various levels of IT services.
  • Demonstrated capability in vendor coordination and onsite technical leadership.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Highly organized with strong documentation discipline.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to handle and deploy technical equipment (computers, servers, firewalls, switches, APs, cabling, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing network and wireless solutions across all offices and event venues.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of network infrastructure including switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and WiFi systems.
  • Serve as the primary Level 2 and Level 3 escalation point for complex network incidents, leading advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, capacity, and security.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation such as network diagrams, SOPs, configuration baselines, and event deployment runbooks.
  • Provide on-site support for Montreal-based server and infrastructure systems in partnership with the Senior System Administrator.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority on all the rack-and-stack activities, cabling, connectivity testing, and hardware-related troubleshooting.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, DR/BCP activities, and scheduled maintenance for the organization.
  • Act as the lead network engineer for all major annual events, responsible for full network design, planning, and deployment.
  • Create end‑to‑end event network designs including WiFi, switching, segmentation, firewall rules, bandwidth planning, redundancy, and cabling plans.
  • Develop detailed technical diagrams, pre‑event testing plans, and deployment procedures.
  • Provide onsite engineering support during event setup, testing, and live operations.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for the annual Montreal event.
  • Lead IT requirements gathering with event leadership, vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee and coordinate onsite vendor activity across all technical domains (networking, WiFi, cabling, Cisco phones, AV systems).
  • Ensure all technology components are validated, tested, and fully operational ahead of the event.
  • Work closely with the Information Security Manager to identify security weaknesses, misconfigurations, and vulnerabilities within the network environment, and implement corrective actions to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
  • Work closely with the technical support team by providing escalation assistance and hands-on coverage when required, primarily within the Montreal office.
  • Participate in IT change management processes and CAB reviews, providing subject‑matter expertise on network and security impacts.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with junior technical teams, contributing to skill development and operational maturity.
  • Support broader IT modernization initiatives and long‑term infrastructure strategy.
