About The Position

Nationwide's Technology team is seeking a highly skilled technology professional with deep experience in modern DevSecOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise with GitHub, APIs, GitHub Actions, and Harness, including designing, implementing, and optimizing automated deployment pipelines and development workflows. Strong candidates will also have experience working with Linux, leading vulnerability remediation efforts, and supporting secure software delivery practices. Exposure to AWS and Kubernetes is strongly preferred, as this role will partner closely with engineering and platform teams to enhance cloud infrastructure, improve deployment reliability, strengthen security posture, and drive automation across the software development lifecycle. As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high-quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document, and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degrees. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Four or more years of software engineering, analysis, or related technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Exposure to AWS and Kubernetes is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze solutions, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software according to standards and best practices in an agile environment.
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Use DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques.
  • Drive continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice, and innovation.
  • Manage medium to large project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.
  • Provides technical guidance to others.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
