About The Position

Supports planning and design efforts, develops network architecture, and performs initial configurations for OT telecommunications equipment to ensure reliable and efficient network operations and improved long-term system performance. Designs packet and optical transport network architectures to align with organizational requirements, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security. Defines architecture and technical specifications for network components — including routers, switches, and optical systems — to enable a scalable and efficient infrastructure, coordinating field installation with technical staff. Develops performance optimization strategies across packet and optical networks to enhance capacity, stability, and service quality. Provides engineering-level root-cause analysis and technical guidance to IT/OT network operations during complex transport issues, partnering with field technicians on resolution to maintain uninterrupted and optimal network performance. Optimizes transport network resources and expenses by implementing cost‑effective technologies and strategies that improve operational efficiency. Maintains effective planning and coordination practices for upgrades, replacements, and configuration of networking/transport projects, ensuring alignment with external customers, management, subcontractors, vendors, and engineering teams. Monitors compliance and process effectiveness to ensure alignment with policies and continuous improvement. Delivers training and guidance to stakeholders to enhance understanding and adoption of best practices. Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services. Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, information systems or related field from an accredited university.
  • 5 years of experience designing, planning, and implementing IP and Telecom traffic infrastructure.
  • Experience testing technology products in a lab environment.
  • Knowledge in cyber security to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Deep understanding of IP networking protocols (TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, etc.), network design principles (topology, routing, QoS), and Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies.
  • Working knowledge of network hardware, software, and standards‑based protocols, including IP/Ethernet, OTN, DWDM, and optical fiber systems.
  • Understanding of legacy and modern transport technologies, including SONET, TDM, circuit emulation, and converged packet/optical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, preferably in English and Spanish (read, speak, and write).
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and knowledge in optical and transmission systems engineering is preferred.
  • Experience using network modeling tools is preferred.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
