About The Position

The Insurance Specialist provides high-level insurance support to the Director and Managers in the Risk Management department, performing a variety of analytical and technical functions to assist with the Company’s insurance program within the scope established by law.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field, insurance, finance, risk management required
  • Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in risk management and/or insurance required
  • Advanced communication skills, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, working knowledge of Pivot Tables and functions within Excel
  • Proficient knowledge of insurance terms and conditions
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Information monitoring skills with strong problem-solving and innovative-thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Consult with Legal department on insurance policy language for various entities within USX – customer and broker.
  • Prepare and analyze documentation provided to insurance brokers and carriers for insurance renewals.
  • Communicate with insurance brokers and insurance carriers on annual insurance policy renewals.
  • Assist in organizing documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Analyze and prepare financial documents and payment reports for Executives within the company.
  • Complete daily claim payment reports and provide reconciliation to Accounts Payable.
  • Execute financial and monthly loss run reporting.
  • Audit and reconcile monthly billing for Workers Compensation claim payments.
  • Maintain accurate filing system for all insurance policies and insurance billing.
  • Process and record insurance policies. Maintain schedule of insurance for each policy year.
  • Understand Company policy on Certificates of Insurance and ability to effectively communicate and explain policy terms to customers or internal Company employees requesting Certificates.
  • Liaison with Company Departments including Legal, Real Estate/Facilities, and Finance regarding certificates needed for executed leases, bank agreements, or loans.
  • Issue Certificates of Insurance using ecertsonline website in accordance with Company’s contractually agreed upon terms.
  • Maintain policy information as required in LineSlip application.
  • Maintain awareness of current laws and regulations pertinent to insurance requirements in the trucking industry.
  • Coordinate and conduct renewal meetings and Risk Retention Group (RRG) activities.
  • Prepare and submit RRG reporting and filings, as required, to insurance brokers and states.
  • Assist in implementation, education, and training on Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
  • Develop and maintain audit processes to improve accuracy of data within RMIS.
  • Assist Risk Management with other duties as assigned or required.
  • Collaborate in-person with all levels of the organization to harness collective intelligence of the workforce.
  • Attend all in-person meetings and trainings on recent developments, goals, and objectives. Participate in such discussions by offering input and advice.
  • Regularly engage remotely and in-person with customers and potential customers to establish rapport, open communication, and expectations.
