We have an opportunity for a Specialist I - Environmental, Health, Safety & Security to join our team. In this role, you will support and execute EHS&S programs to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards. You will develop and deliver policies, procedures, and training while partnering with leadership to manage risk assessments and reporting. This position offers the chance to lead safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 4 years of related experience.
  • Degree should be in Environmental, Health, Safety & Security, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
  • Relevant experience includes: Occupational Safety and Health Administration reporting requirements, conducting risk assessments (functional, chemical, ergonomics), Good Manufacturing Practice regulations, hazardous waste management, regulatory agency interaction, and familiarity with ISO 45001 implementation.
  • Full understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency compliance including stormwater, wastewater, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and air emissions.
  • Experience managing risk assessments, personal protective equipment, industrial safety, industrial hygiene, auditing, and training/implementing EHS processes.
  • Individual must be able to see, hear, read, and write clear English.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, talking, writing, listening.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, carrying, grasping.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Must comply with EHS responsibilities.
  • Lab work may involve irritants, electrical equipment, sharp instruments, toxic materials, hazardous waste.
  • Clean room gowning required.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant professional certifications (Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support and execute site Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs to ensure full regulatory and agency compliance.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver EHS&S standard operating procedures, policies, and training across the site.
  • Partner with the EHS&S Manager to conduct risk assessments, manage the Safety Data Sheet program, and complete required agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration reporting.
  • Lead the Safety Committee, including monthly meetings, site audits, and safety performance metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action tracking for EHS&S programs.
  • Ensure contractor EHS&S compliance and support incident investigation and workers’ compensation reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
