About The Position

The Field Engineering Specialist is responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of avionics systems and proprietary communication systems on various single and multi-engine aircraft. This role involves applying technical knowledge of electronic principles and troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve avionics malfunctions, ensuring aircraft are returned to full operational status. The specialist will also install and maintain Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) modifications, advise personnel on their use, and perform work according to technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings. A strong understanding of operational procedures, inspection requirements, and maintenance techniques for aircraft communications/navigation and ancillary electronics systems is essential. The role requires the ability to utilize various aircraft test equipment, technical publications, and schematics, along with in-depth knowledge of aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection. Experience with diverse technical reference materials, including commercial/OEM manuals and blueprints/engineering drawings, is necessary. The position requires willingness and ability to travel 30-50% both internationally and domestically. Physical requirements include lifting, bending, and climbing. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products is also required. Other duties will be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
  • Experience with a wide range of technical reference material from commercial/OEM manuals to blueprints/engineering drawings.
  • Must be willing and able to travel between 30-50% both international and domestic.
  • Physical requirements of the job include lifting, bending, and climbing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of experience with Aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
  • Graduate Degree with two (2) years of experience with Aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years of experience with Aircraft avionics operation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance at the time of hire with eligibility to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs, tests and/or calibrates various types of aircraft electronic equipment and related devices such as transmitters, amplifiers, receivers, RF distribution equipment, computer controllers, and workstations.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles and strong knowledge in troubleshooting techniques to determine avionics malfunctions and restore aircraft to full operational status.
  • Installs and maintains Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) modifications to the aircraft and advises operations and maintenance personnel on their use.
  • Performs work in accordance with technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of operational procedures, inspection requirements, troubleshooting, and maintenance techniques to aircraft communications/navigation and ancillary electronics systems.
  • Utilize a variety of aircraft test equipment, technical publications, and schematics.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
