About The Position

This position develops and supervises classes in employability skills and employment readiness, including soft skills, career interest classes, and basic literacy. The Specialist develops course offerings and instructional materials, collaborates with college departments and community organizations, and hires, trains, and supervises instructors. The position also monitors instruction and student progress, reviews class records, and prepares reports.

Requirements

• Associate degree.
• Valid NCDL.

• Experience working with adult learners.
• Experience working in a business or education setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop new employability courses, including lesson plans and other instructional materials.
• Partner with community organizations to create relevant classes for their constituents.
• Partner with Career Connect to provide employment readiness classes to current SCC students.
• Partner with ESL to develop similar classes for area businesses, as needed.
• Partner with the CCR Coordinator at ACI to develop new class offerings.
• Work with the Institutional Advancement department to market classes.
• Hire, train, and supervise instructors, and provide professional development as needed.
• Conduct class evaluations in compliance with SCC policy.
• Monitor classes to ensure faculty follow college, state, and NRS guidelines.
• Monitor student progress.
• Review registration forms, sign-in sheets, and instructor sign-in sheets closely for accuracy.
• Prepare reports as requested.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
