About The Position

The Customer Solutions Specialist is a key member of the Commercial Capabilities team, playing a pivotal role in managing customer relationships and ensuring efficient supply chain operations. This customer-facing role serves as the main point of contact for all customer inquiries, including inventory management, shipment tracking, and supply chain programs. The Specialist is responsible for driving cost savings, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring smooth operations from order placement to final payment. This role requires a strong ability to develop and implement creative solutions to real-time issues, manage customer orders for compliance, and collaborate with Sales, Supply Planning, Warehousing, and Transportation teams to deliver exceptional service and meet organizational goals. This role is ideal for individuals who are customer-focused, possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and can manage complex supply chain processes efficiently. Each Specialist is assigned one or more accounts to manage, based on factors such as order volume, business and customer-specific requirements, and the visibility of the customer. The comprehensive knowledge of the business and the skills gained over time in the Specialist role equip team members to successfully advance their careers at Tyson, whether within Customer Solutions or in other functional areas of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • at least one year of business experience
  • Ability to negotiate win-win solutions that reduce logistics costs while meeting customer needs.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications; experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and information clearly.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintains a positive, proactive approach, contributing to a supportive and productive work environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by understanding their organization, product portfolio, and internal processes.
  • Tailor services, communication, and execution to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Support Sales by participating in food shows, customer visits, and store walks that foster collaboration and deepen relationships with customers.
  • Influence customers to drive order efficiencies such as direct plant shipments and full truckload ordering and ordering in layer and/or pallet increments that directly impact financial costs.
  • Utilize supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, PowerBI, AFE, JDA, TES, FourKites) to enhance visibility, coordination, and decision-making in processing and tracking orders.
  • Clearly communicate the expectations and benefits of supply chain programs (e.g., retail bracket compliance, direct plant shipment, lead time, on-time delivery, fill rates, warehouse efficiencies) and monitor performance against company goals.
  • Seek opportunities to consolidate shipments, maximize load efficiency, and reduce transportation and logistics costs.
  • Partner with Sales teams to support sales growth by recommending replacement items for discontinued materials, managing shorted quantities, and providing enhanced support on seasonal and promotional orders.
  • Conduct meetings between Customer Solutions, Sales, Product, and Logistics teams to promote cross-functional collaboration.
  • Manages up to 100 customer orders, 1.3 million pounds, and 3.8 million dollars in sales each week.
  • Manages a customer or customer base that is dependent on factors such as geographical location, weekly order volume, customer uniqueness, and complexity of the business managed.
  • Completing necessary documentation, participating in recurring calls with internal and external partners, and contributing to the planning and coordination of customer shipments.
  • Provides account coverage outside of the assigned business to support business needs as required.
