About The Position

The Chassis Recovery & Resolution Specialist manages day-to-day cases involving lost, stolen, impounded, or unreturned intermodal chassis. The role investigates equipment location and possession, works with customers and service providers to resolve return issues, and coordinates towing or other recovery services when needed. The Specialist also supports equipment-related incidents and recovery billing. The Specialist also prepares reports and analyzes operational data to identify risks, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve recovery results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or 4+ years of directly relevant professional experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Comfortable learning and working in operational and case-management systems.
  • Takes responsibility for assigned work, follows up consistently, and drives cases toward resolution with limited supervision.
  • Connects information from multiple sources to identify patterns, assess risk, and determine practical next steps.
  • Recognizes when an issue requires escalation or specialized review.
  • Communicates clearly and works effectively with customers, service providers, and internal teams.
  • Makes progress when information is incomplete, circumstances change, or the next step is not immediately clear.
  • Maintains accurate records, costs, and supporting documentation.
  • Identifies and recommends improvements to processes, reporting, and controls based on case experience and operational data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, equipment management, or asset recovery preferred, with intermodal or marine transportation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned recovery cases from initial review through return or final resolution.
  • Research equipment location, possession, customer history, and movement records to understand what happened and determine next steps.
  • Work with customers, terminals, yards, tow companies, and recovery providers to resolve equipment return issues.
  • Escalate complex, high-risk, or unresolved cases when additional review or action is needed.
  • Review tow and impound notifications and determine what is needed to release and recover equipment.
  • Coordinate with tow yards, impound facilities, customers, and service providers to arrange equipment return.
  • Monitor storage charges, lien deadlines, and other time-sensitive issues that could increase costs or put equipment at risk.
  • Prepare supporting information and documentation for equipment value and recovery-related billing.
  • Track towing, storage, recovery, and other case-related costs.
  • Research billing questions and disputes and provide supporting case information and documentation.
  • Process and maintain records for equipment-related incidents, including loss, theft, and accidents.
  • Work across the organization to gather information, reconcile equipment records, and clarify follow-up responsibility for outstanding chassis.
  • Coordinate case information and follow-up with appropriate internal and external parties when incidents involve claims, liability, law enforcement, or other specialized review.
  • Prepare and maintain operational and KPI reports covering recoveries, outstanding equipment, aging, costs, incidents, and other established measures.
  • Analyze case and operational data to identify trends, recurring issues, risks, and opportunities to improve recovery performance.
  • Prepare regular management summaries highlighting significant cases, financial exposure, aging equipment, key findings, and items requiring escalation.
