This role provides direct instructional and behavioral assistance and support to teachers and assistants within the ESE team. The Specialist will evaluate and report on functional behavior assessments for students receiving ESE services, and provide guidance to IEP teams on writing positive behavior intervention plans (PBIPs) and functional behavior assessments (FBAs). Collaboration with teachers is key for designing and implementing individual behavior systems and social skills instruction. The position also involves designing and delivering staff development on behavioral interventions, supporting data collection and analysis, and conducting behavioral observations. Additionally, the role includes performing Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities, assisting general education staff with modifications and accommodations for students receiving ESE services, and supporting faculty in short-term crisis management. The Specialist will also act as a parent/school/community liaison and ESE student advocate, attend monthly behavior specialist meetings, and maintain certification in de-escalation and physical intervention techniques. Guidance and consultative support will also be provided to general education teachers for students not currently receiving ESE services.
